Typical Applications
- High Voltage (HV) and Extra High Voltage (EHV) transmission lines (66kV, 110kV, 220kV, 500kV and above).
- Overhead lines across rural areas, mountains, and rivers.
- Primary feeder lines from substations.
- Note:Installation requires proper insulator strings and maintains safe clearance from ground and obstacles.
Construction
1. All Aluminium Stranded: Good conductivity, moderate strength.
2. All Aluminium Alloy Conductor: High strength, corrosion resistant, no magnetic loss.
3. Aluminium Conductor, Steel Reinforced: Most common. Galvanized steel core for strength, outer aluminium wires for conductivity. Excellent strength-to-weight ratio.
Technical Data
- All Aluminium Stranded (AAS/AAC):Pure aluminum strands. Best conductivity, lower strength.
- Aluminium Conductor, Steel Reinforced (ACSR):The most common type. A core of galvanized steel strands surrounded by layers of aluminum strands.This is the direct equivalent to the Chinese LGJ.
- All Aluminium Alloy Conductor (AAAC):Made of aluminum-magnesium-silicon alloy, offering good strength and corrosion resistance without a steel core.
- Aluminium Conductor, Aluminium-Clad Steel Reinforced (ACSR/AW):Similar to ACSR, but the steel core is clad with aluminum for better corrosion resistance.
